I had previously posted about a problem in 2.1.56 where I couldn’t alter the sort order or exclude an image. The only solution was to manually delete the ID=”XXX” tag from the visual shortcode. Because of this problem, I had temporarily rolled back to 2.1.50.

I upgraded to 2.1.57 today, since the changelog stated that “Custom sortorder not preserved in shortcode” had been fixed. But, the problem still exists. The only way to edit the sort order or to exclude an image is to manually remove the ID=”XXX” tag from the visual shortcode. Happens in both Firefox and Chrome.

Additionally, I discovery another issue when using Chrome (but not Firefox). In Chrome, when I click on an existing gallery in the Visual tab to edit it or click the button to insert a gallery onto the page, the resulting visual shortcode gets placed not only in the Text tab, but in the Visual tab as well.

The end result — I can’t click on an existing gallery to edit its properties. I have to either manually edit the shortcode or rebuild the gallery on the page from scratch. The clickable visual representation of the gallery on the Visual tab (the one which said “NextGEN Gallery click to edit”) is gone, replaced by visual shortcode.

I don’t know if this problem existed previously, as I didn’t test 2.1.56 with Chrome.

@postmastergs – We are still looking into why there are intermittent issues with displays when the ID parameter is present (it’s a hold-over from the old <img> tag placeholder we were using).

As to the issues within Chrome specifically, we are not seeing this in our testing. Have you tried doing this in Chrome with an anonymous browser window? There have been cases where some browser extensions are interfering.

    Thanks!

If I use Chrome’s incognito mode, everything works fine. If I open Chrome in regular mode with all extensions and plugins disabled it doesn’t.

@postmastergs – This would suggest there may be something in your “regular” Chrome instance under the conditions you described that is still different than its incognito mode. I would suggest looking into that further as the most likely root to this issue.

    Thanks!

I just tried the new version (2.1.60), and the “ID=” problem persists. No changes I make to any gallery take effect unless I manually delete the “ID=” section from the shortcode.

@postmastergs – Thanks for the update! We’re still looking into why this is the case although it does not appear to be consistent across all installations. Unfortunately I do not have a timeline when this will be completely sorted out although you are welcome to send us a Bug Report (https://imagely.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a better look under the page at your site.

Please include as many details as you can about your site and the issue at hand so we can move on this as fast as possible.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
