RSS feed

Hi. They say to put an RSS feed icon to visitors can, it seems to me, subscribe to alerts of ones’ posts as they are posted, without actually subscribing, as far as I can tell. So, wanting to always take the advice of attacks, how does one add the RSS icon? I tried a plugin that did not change the appearance of the blog. So, how does one add the icon? Thanks.a
