I have my site up and running, and I’m looking to install a third-party blog theme, but the ZIP they provide won’t upload into the site, with the error that style.css is missing. I read around and saw it’s a common issue with these third-party sites, and I just need to upload with an FTP, but when I try to connect my blog to FTP, it just doesn’t want to connect and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

I’ll run FileZilla, and put the host as my site URL, rejuvenare-glamour-medica.mystagingwebsite.com, and put in the wordpress username and email that I use to access my wp-admin cPanel, but it doesn’t connect. Am I using the wrong credentials, is the host name wrong… what do I do

no, it has nothing to do with FTP.

Check the zip file you downloaded and see if there’s an “inner” zip file. If so, THAT is the file that contains the theme and you should upload from APPEARANCE->THEMES.

FYI, your site’s FTP user/password has nothing to do with your WorddPress lgoin.

I went through the files, nothing inside of the folders are zipped. Here’s screenshots of the files, maybe you can identify the issue WP is having in uploading:

    Zip directory

    Path to style.css

    Paths through Theme subfolder

As for the FTP user/pass, can you help me identify where I find the password for this? I’m sorry, I’m new to website design, I’ve dealt with FTPs only when I set up game servers, and those hosts were optomized for FTP and sort of set it up for you, so I’m lost in how to make WP work for it.

Oops wrong picture, here’s that second path

Where did you download this theme from? You did not obtain a WordPress theme — that’s just HTML. You need to contact support from the theme vendor to get credit for this and to obtain a WordPress theme.

The FTP user/password is assigned by your host. Please contact their tech support for help with that.
