Specific “members area” needs, can you plugin…?

Hello, I am hoping that if I list what I would be wanting to achieve in our “members area”, that someone in the know, would be able to tell me if this plugin can do what’s required.

(1) This WordPress site would be replacing an existing site, with an existing “members area” and thus a pre-existing list of members. The data for these existing members would need to be imported into the WordPress version. The existing data will include various custom fields of information.

(2) There will be multiple “levels” of membership. You’ll have “visitors”, “endusers”, “dealers”, “press” etc. and each level of membership will have it’s own area for file downloads etc. Certain roles will also have access to file downloads of lower roles.

(2) Equally, certain roles will require admin approval upon a requested registration. Other lower levels would be approved and given access (to their area) automatically.

This is not some sort of social networking, we’re not on about members posting their holiday photos and other members “liking” them… This is purely a client of ours, who wishes to have their customers have a secure area to download software updates and support documentation etc.
