• Hi,

I’m looking into using WordPress multi site to run two websites. One in English, one in Swedish. I’m getting a bit confused by the user set up.

I’ve set up a secondary account i will use to administer the swedish version, but when i look at the english version i can still log in with my second accounts details. Even though the secondary account is not in the user list on the english version. I cannot make any changes from there with the account, but i thought the users were restricted to their specific website.

I want a super admin, a swedish admin and an english admin. First one has access to both, the other have access to their respective website. They can still view the sites, i just dont want them logging into each site.

I guess this isnt a flaw/error/bug but some clarification on multi users and restricting their sites would be wonderful. Can someone give some advice?

I’m running this on a local installation currently on my computer, using xampp and wordpress 4.5.4

    thanks

    Phil

  • That is the way WP multisite works. When you create a user, they are a “network” user. You can give that user a role (e.g. admin) on one site, but they still have limited access to all other sites (as network user). If you do not want network users to access other sites, you need a plugin. Here is an example plugin that does this but I have never used it – https://wordpress.org/plugins/admin-bar-dashboard-control/
