[Primer] Problem with Read More Tag

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on setting up a blog and have run into a problem that I cannot find a solution for. I’ve set up my blog with the Primer theme, which looks great and I think I like EXCEPT I cannot for the life of me figure out how to manually adjust how much of my posts displays on my homepage.

Here’s what’s happening:

No matter where I put my read more tag, my homepage only shows about the first line and a half of a post before cutting to the “continue reading” button. I want to show much more of my posts on the front page, but even if I put the read more tag much lower in my post, it cuts off on the homepage far before this.

I’m assuming that there is something in the Primer theme’s code that is overriding my read more tag. I’m certainly not an expert in code, but I’ve read articles online trying to solve this issue and I don’t see the keywords mentioned in other theme’s codes in mine. So I’m just not sure what needs to be changed.

Any thoughts on how I can manually adjust how much of my posts displays on the homepage using the Primer theme? Thank you in advance and I am happy to respond to any clarifying questions.
