Oh weird!
I was unable to replicate the same issue on my test site, but I would recommend a couple of things.
First off, try flishing your permalinks. You can do that by heading to Settings > Permalinks form the WordPress dashboard and simply saving the settings without making any changes. This will effectively “refresh” the links across your site and is often a way for solving something like this.
If that fails, then I would try switching to the default WordPress Twenty Sixteen theme and seeing if the issue continues there as well. Note that you may need to flush the permalinks again once switching themes to see the change take effect.
Let’s start there and see what we find. 🙂
Thanks!
Geoff

Ugh well i tried both suggestions and nothing has worked so far. and i did try flushing the permalinks again when trying the other theme.
Is there some way we can debug this better so i can see where it is failing and redirecting to the homepage?

I thought maybe it was an SEF issue but even when i switched to the permalinks to PLAIN the URL STILL showed the homepage instead of the venue.
Maybe there is a corrupt install?

Hey @rayge,
You might want to try to go through our testing for conflicts procedure: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/
Additionally, would you mind sharing the URL of the site where this is happening ?
Have a good week-end,
Geoff B.
