Plugin resets when backup runs

    When I run backup, admin menu editor resets. I tested it with two backup plugins – BackupWordpress – https://wordpress.org/plugins/backupwordpress/ and BackWPup.
    In both cases the same happens – when I start making backup, admin panel refreshes and at the top is admin menu editor message like after installation. And all settings are gone.

    I can’t seem to reproduce the problem: when I run a backup with BackUpWordPress, the backup completes successfully and menu editor settings are unchanged.

    Could it be a symptom of database corruption? Try checking/repairing the wp_options table with phpMyAdmin or a similar tool.

    If that doesn’t help then, as a test, try deactivating Admin Menu Editor before running a backup. Does it still get reset? If it does, that suggests that the problem might be in another plugin.
