  • Hi Paul, did you create a form backup using Tools from the old website and in the new site you clicked on Restore Settings. And you are saying that it did not work correctly for you. What was the problem?

    Hello,
Thank you for your very quick response to my question.

    That’s correct you’re saying.
The problem is that the form doesn’t appear in the new form.
This is what I get in my back-up, so this is not the form.
The back up in the form tools does not correct back-up the forms.

    Kind regards
    Paul

Hi, I just carried out a simple test and the backup worked for me. Of course this back up was carried within the same server. This is what I did.

Created a form, added a few more fields. Went to Tools and created a back up for this form “Not for all the forms”. Then I reset the form to a standard form, that removed all my added fields. Then I went to restore this form using the back and it worked like a charm ๐Ÿ™‚

Did you carried out the same process as my steps above?

I have the same results as you, but still the problem is the same with other existing forms. See my first message above.

Would it be possible to transfer all the 35 forms from the olde domain to the new domain on the same server?

    Kind regards
    Paul

Hi Paul, try to backup one form and export it into the new site. Let me know exactly what steps you take. And if there are any error messages. Remember that each form has a unique ID.

The following are the instructions by the developer.

    Report back with the outcome.

Hello and thank you for your answer.
I followed exactly the instructions, (they are not difficult) but my problem is as described above, that the backup is not made correctly. This is what I get in my back-up.
    Then
I did what you advised me to do, I created a new form called “test” added a view new fields, made a backup, and restored it succesfully. But when I tried to restored it to the new domain, it did not work out.
    Kind regards
    Paul

Hi Paul, I carried out another simple test. I did exactly the same as before but this time I restored the backup into one of my live test servers and it worked for me.

This was a simple backup and restore process. For example.

I created a form, added a two new fields. I even moved these fields to a different position in the form. The form ID is 2. I Went to Tools and created a back up for just this form โ€œNot for all the formsโ€. Then I went to my live server testing site. I made sure that the form I was restoring was also a form with ID 2. Then I went to restore this form using the back and it worked like a charm ๐Ÿ™‚

Now as I mentioned above this was only a form with two simple text fields. Both plugin installation locally and on the live server have the same plugin version 4.0.43.

Do both plugins in your old and new site are the same version? How many fields do you have in one form? Do you have some very strange form setup? Can you share with me what one of your complex form has. I would like to know if it is possible so that I can carry out a test.

    Regards

    Hello,
    That sounds good.

Both plugins, on the old en the new site, are the same Version 4.0.43 (up to date).

Here you can find, at the bottom of the page, a form.

This back-up saves like contact-form-backup-30 As you can see the back-up hasn’t made properly.

    Kind regards
    Paul

Hi Paul, I just carried out a test with your backup file above and I was able to import your backup into my test site without a problem. So I can confirm that the backup file you shared above is working in my test site.

Can you share a screen capture of the contact form in your new site after you restored the contact form from your backup.

    Thank you

    Hello again,
I might have found the trouble coursing issue.
In โ€œAdvancedโ€ I enabled confirmation email message and also HTML autoresponder.
Now I have disabled these functions I can make a proper backup and copy it to the new site
In the plugin at the new site I have created as the same number new forms as forms in the old site, made a back up of all the forms at the old site and restored them succesfully (!!) to the new site.
    This did the tric.
Thank you very, very much for all the efforts you put caused to solve my problem. I am very happy now.
    Kind regards
    Paul

I am glad to hear Paul ๐Ÿ™‚

Can you mark this support thread as resolved.

    Thank you
