Permission issue

    Good (very early) morning internet,

    At the beginning of the month, I tried to update to WordPress 4.6, and it crashed my WordPress site. Long story short I had to delete and reinstall WordPress. The website now works, and I can update posts, portfolio, etc. But now I am not able to update my plugins. I keep receiving a message that says it has failed to automatically update and manually update. I understand that this is most likely a permission issue, but I’ve tried changing some of the permissions in my FTP with little luck. I’m starting to think when I reinstalled WordPress something went wrong and I’m overlooking a critical component…..

    any advice?
