what do you mean? just simply don’t choose that category in customizer->homepage featured category->choose category. is it? or unless your post had multi category and you want to filter it out, doesn’t seem possible using current query,
I’m sorry i think the template is not working properly. In the homepage sidebar i have set the widget only the ads right, and the customized menu, but i see also the other widget like the Recent Post, Pages, and others which i haven’t set in the widget menu. Also i have excluded the category i didn’t want to display in the homepage feature but i see the category.
There might be some problem with the template? I have installed the last version of the Mesocolumn theme (Versione: 1.6.5.1) and the version of MesoDark is 1.0.

did you use the wp-admin->appareance->widgets-> ‘right’ widget? not ‘tabber’ widget.

If i set the homepage as “standard page” it’s possible to show category post as in your live preview mesodark website? I mean with colored bar, title, text and image? or is only possible when you set the homepage as blog?

you can’t use static page in wp-admin->settings->readings, you must use ‘latest post’. it will use the category choosen from customizer->homepage featured category.
ok the last thing is how to set the post in a mix way, i mean some categories in thumbnail format and some in the Medium one. Thanks
afraid you can’t with current setup. it need customization on lib/templates/feat-cat-home-top and bottom.php
