• After updating to 4.6.1 my plugin list is not functioning properly — and not listing all plugins under the ALL ACTIVE and INACTIVE tabs.

Plugins will show if you search for them by name.

I’ve tried installing new and deleting and reinstalling some, but nothing seems to get the lists to rebuild or correct the problem.

    Any suggestions?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

What version of WordPress are you currently running?

Ver 4.6.1 Happened right after I updated.

How do I reset from FTP? Just copy something new in from FPT?

Hi! Thank you for writing to the forums.

esmi’s resetting the plugins folder has some instructions — 4-step instructions on how to reset the plugins via FTP.

Sometimes when WordPress becomes updated, a plugin suddenly becomes broken. I think of this not as the update having broken anything, but rather as the plugin having failed to be prepared for the coming of the WP update — having failed to “Keep up with the times”.

In any case, I agree its a good idea as a first-step troubleshooting, to reset the plugins. If, with the plugins disabled, the site works good, then, start enabling them one-at-a-time and testing after each one, to see whether one particular plugin is the culprit.

Will you let us know how you go?
