• I have a small stick-making hobbie business and my nephew created a Mystile wedsite for me a few years ago. I do not wish to keep hassling him for help since he is trying to run his own business and has three young children that naturally takes up a lot of his time. About 6 months ago I uploaded some new pictures to try and encourage some business and since then the site has slowed down. I have run several analysis to try and find the reason and learnt very little, probably because you could fit my IT skills in a flees back pocket!

I found a recommendation on this forum to use GTMetrix for a more informed analysis. This identified 4 key areas giving low scores…. My website is called http://www.molecountrysticks.com

    1. (Use a Content Delivery Network…. Specify your CDNs in your User Settings. There are 29 static components that are not on CDN.

    2. Make fewer HTTP requests…. This page has 13 external Javascript scripts. Try combining them into one. This page has 7 external stylesheets. Try combining them into one.

    3. Use cook-free domains…. There are 11 components that are not cookie-free.

    4. Minify JavaScript and CSS…. here are 3 components that can be minified

    inline <style> tag #3
    inline <script> tag #1
    inline <script> tag #2

I looks like the main problems are identified here but how do I fix them? Is it possible that WP have fix-its and how-to’s on their site or could I Google search for videos how-to’s. Or is that simple that someone on hear could tell me how?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.. Thanks for taking the time to read this… Kenny

That’s strange because I can get in OK? Although at the moment I can’t get into my site admin. I tried to update three plugins this morning to were successful and Akismet failed, at which point it asked me to login again and my email or password was not recognised. I am hoping my nephew can get me back in Ashe is an administrator. What I did notice after this happened was that my website loaded in 6 seconds rather than the usual 22 seconds?

Sorry guy’s….. Just realised I listed my site ending in .com rattan than .co.uk

    Try http://www.molecountrysticks.co.uk

    Thanks

Did you mean http://molecountrysticks.co.uk? If so – nice sticks! Looks like the dot com is available, by the way. The site is speedy for me, and pingdom gives it straight A’s and a performance rating of 97. Maybe just a slow internet connection on your end?

Thank you for replying and yes you have the right site. I have fibre so speed my end should not be an issue. I have same speed times coming up regardless whether I use my I actor iPad. The upload speed is similar for my nephew as well… 16 seconds to open the web page and 22 seconds the shop page.

Wow, 16 seconds is really slow. Site is speedy for me, so I have no explanation. Maybe experts will chime in.
