I am receiving the same error message since the last Wordfence update 3 days ago. Also running WordPress v.4.6.1 with PHP 5.6 and Tempera Theme. Hosting is via DreamHost shared server.
My files are .mp3 and about 35M, well within the 64M allowed in the PHP and previously uploaded without a problem. Images upload without an issue.
I’ve had to disable the Wordfence plug-in to upload the .mp3 files.
Any help with a fix would be great, Thanks!

Update, I rolled back to version 6.1.15 and the files now upload without a problem. I’ll stick with the older version for now but please let me know if this is corrected in the next update. Thanks!
Hi,
Thanks for the report, and sorry to hear about the trouble. Our dev team has updated the firewall rule “Malicious File Upload (Patterns)”, to prevent this issue for admins when uploading large files on some sites. If non-admins need to upload large files, you might need to temporarily disable that rule, by unchecking its box on the Firewall page.
If your site has not received the updated rule yet, you can click the “Manually refresh firewall rules” near the bottom of the Diagnostics page on the Wordfence menu to get the latest version of the rule.

Greetings Matt,
Manually updated the firewall rule and returned to the latest version of Wordfence. Uploads are working perfectly again.
Thanks very much and keep up the great work – Wordfence is a awesome resource!
