I don’t have a sidebar

I have a stunning for my blog and I’m so glad I found one that stands out from the crowd:

A friend of mine tried to widgetize the sidebar on my blog and he followed the instructions for doing so featured here:

When I went into my WP admin I was faced with this message:

No Sidebars Defined
You are seeing this message because the theme you are currently using isn’t widget-aware, meaning that it has no sidebars that you are able to change. For information on making your theme widget-aware, please follow these instructions.

I’m not entirely sure what’s gone wrong and how to either get my sidebar defined or get it widget enabled…can anyone help?
