• It’s a decent enough plugin for free if you don’t mind that out of the box there is no styling of the frontend form and it’s ugly on all but the worst website of the 1990’s.

You got to style it, and I did before I realized the missing text fields on the front end. So your customer/client books an appointment but City and State are missing from the form… huh? So when you look up those new clients the form says everyone lives in Alabama. OK? It would have been less confusing if it was just blank.

This plugin uses a script called “Chosen” when searching past clients that auto-fills when you book them a new appointment from the backend. But this search field does not work at all if you have installed a really gotta-have-can’t-live-without plugin called WP Jump Menu which also uses Chosen but does not affect any other plugins using Chosen. This incompatibility renders BirchPress Scheduler completely useless.

When contacting support Jennifer said it was designed to be missing City and State on PURPOSE and the code was well written… even though the search loader spins and spins… with no search results.

So, 3 stars because this will work for someone on a tight budget of free (their paid plugins are WAY WAY overpriced) but not for me. Codecanyon has much better options and only $22.

BTW, if you do use this plugin and need CSS for the frontend, and everyone should here’s the code I wrote to make this plugin a little better. Just cut and paste into your CSS of your theme or download a CSS plugin.

As the creator, I have to clarify some points of your review.

    1. Regarding the booking form styling.
The booking form is designed to be integrated with WP themes seamlessly. If your theme is fancy, the booking form is fancy too, with the same style. We think this is a very competitive feature comparing to others rather than a defect.

    2. Compatibility
We do not use the Chosen library. It is WP Jump Menu using it. We use jQuery Autocomplete for the client search field. WP Jump Menu loads their own jquery.ui.position.js file rather than WP built-in lib which causes the problem. You might contact WP Jump Menu to resolve it.

    3. Premium editions
Customizing the booking form is a feature only included in the business edition and above. Our team spends lots of effort and time to add advanced functionalities in the premium edtions. The free version mainly satisfies the simple scenario. As to $22 plugins in the Codecanyon market, we believe serious projects can hardly rely on it.

    Hey Luke,

As the creator, I wish you had addressed the missing text fields for City and State. Jennifer said this was also missing from the $75 personal version. Really??? For $22 you can set City and State and as many custom fields and menus as you want. http://demo.boxystudio.com/preview/?product=9466968 But no, for hardcore user it probably isn’t enough.

I appreciate your clarification about not using Chosen. If you are using WP built in scripts then why does it not work with something as popular as Chosen? Are you saying WP Jump Menu has incorrectly used Chosen? If so, I find it odd that after testing or using over a hundred plugins I’ve never had an issue with WP Jump Menu. In fact, it’s one of the few I leave on when testing problematic plugins.

OK, so BPS is not for my network, not a big deal in the long run is it?

    I wish you much success.

Chris, please note that birchpress or any plugin/ theme author are not allowed to support their commercialware on these forums. Your first post was fine, but I may have to close this thread the way it’s going.

It’s probably more my fault because I did bring up he price of their Premium versions. I also did not think his comments were supporting them as we all think “support” means. Just comments I felt.

That’s okay, if you do have questions about the premium versions I’m sure @birchpress will be able to provide a way of contacting them.
