Hi,
Would you be willing to change this review if this can be worked through in the support forum? (I don’t think you’ve posted there?). https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/updraftplus
It’s also worth noting that UpdraftPlus backups are standard zip/SQL files – https://updraftplus.com/faqs/what-format-are-backups-made-in-is-it-nasty-and-proprietary/ – so can be restored manually (not just using UpdraftPlus); and there are detailed instructions for this in the FAQs – I think that giving us the worst possible basis in this way is really harsh (and somewhat discouraging).
Best wishes,
David

Sorry, I want to delete the review but I can’t apparently. I did download the zip files and tried to restore that way and it also didn’t work. I did not have time to post in support, the site was gobble-de-gook, and I needed it fixed right away.
I didn’t think I was too harsh and if you feel discouraged, you can understand how I felt that Friday night with the mess I had on my hands.
Hi,
Thank you, that is appreciated. If you want to delete the review but can’t, then I believe that you still have the facility to re-write it, and/or change the rating, by clicking on the number of stars in the right-hand column at: https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/
I’d be happy to try testing restoring from your backup set, if you want to share the backup set with me (e.g. share via Dropbox or Google Drive). In the very rare cases where a restore doesn’t work, it’s almost always the hosting company providing very limited resources that don’t allow for an automatic restore. But, if I can test it out, I can let you know.
Best wishes,
David
