    Maybe this is just me but I don’t want a ticket system that I have to first sign up for an API key just to get working. I want a ticket system (or any plugin for that matter) that just works out of the box.

    You don’t need to sign up for an API key, the API key is automatically generated. Only if you want to enable the Pro features do you need to sign up.
