Addendum-
when I type in this:
http://womanwize.net/wordpress/wp-admin/
I can log into my dashboard (phew), but then the site disappears
and I get a “page coming soon”. How can I tell if it’s an issue with the theme, or if it’s another problem.
BTW- the site is : http://www.womanwize.net
Thanks again
WHERE is your WP installed? Your site root or /wordpress? And why people insist on installing WP anywhere other than their site root if that’s all they’re gonna have there or it’s the main part of the site is simply beyond me. No harm will come if you install WP in the root.
But if you can access the dashboard, you can tell WP to treat the site root as the WP URL.
Your blog is at ://womanwize.net/wordpress/ , not ://womanwize.net/
Log in at http://womanwize.net/wordpress/wp-admin/
Go to Dashboard, Settings, and make sure your WordPress address (URL)
and your Blog address (URL) settings are what you would expect them to be.
I installed WP the way it was recommended in the world famous
easy install. There is an install through GoDaddy’s hosting connection.
So I installed it in site root/wordpress. I will eventually have several sites on the same server, so that made sense to me.
Again it wasn’t a problem earlier today – when I used the WP default theme.
I did double check the URLs:
Blog address: http://www.womanwize.net
WordPress address: http://womanwize.net/wordpress
Whenever I click- “visit site” from the dashboard I get the FTP error page. I double checked at my hosting (GoDaddy) and everything is FINE on their end. They have been very helpful today.
It doesn’t matter which theme I use – NOTHING shows up.
ANything else I should check??
OK- I have spent hours self-teaching my newbie self.
Here’s what I did for posterity:
1) realized that I can enter by http://www.mydomainname/wordpress/wp-admin
2) once there, I added a “Meta” widget which gives me a log-in directly from my home page.
Now I have two log in options.
PHEW.
