Search/Filter issue

Hi,

I’ve got a table, it’s getting to where I want it to be, but the search/filter option seems to be having a problem.

When I use the search to search/filter by Chapter, it doesn’t work. EG: When I type Chapter 5 into it, it seems to ignore the chapter column but then lists everything containing a 5.

It’s frustrating me at this stage.

Hope someone has some idea of how to fix this!

Hi,

thanks for the link! The behavior that you describe is expected here. It’s basically the same as in Google. Chapter and 5 are treated as separate search terms. If you only want to find Chapter 5, you’d have to add quotation marks, i.e. search for "Chapter 5".

Another idea for this table could be the TablePress Extension from https://tablepress.org/extensions/datatables-columnfilterwidgets/ which would allow the user to choose a chapter from a drop-down.

Thanks very much for the reply. I understand that now, I’ve also tried the addon you suggested. I’ll trial it’s use and see what happens after that. I’ll mark this topic resolved after you give a reply to this:

Hi,

good to hear that this helped!

To access the Advanced Editor quickly, just hold the “Shift” key while clicking into the desired cell.
