Table headings disappearing with datatable

When displaying a form with the cfdb-datatable function the table appears correctly with headings at first but when the Show and Search functions appear they overlay the headings which are then blanked out.

The headings are still on the page even though hidden because mouseover triggers the appearance of tooltips for the heading and a click sorts the data correctly.

The same form with the cfdb-table appears correctly with headings.

I have tried changing the CSS with the id function to see if different font sizes would solve the problem.

I have recently added the edit plugin to see if that made a difference but the problem still occurs.
