I’m getting this error when trying to update plugins:

Download failed. Failed to write request to temporary file.

Any past searches are from 5+ years ago, and recommend that the /tmp partition is full. I’ve checked with my hosting company, and they say it’s not full, but have agreed to clear out any unnecessary clutter from the folder.

I thought, hm… maybe I should reinstall WP, but nope, I get the same error.

    Anyone?

Still a host error; you need to talk to them.

I can’t win. Maybe the guy I was chatting with last night wasn’t sure of this. He looked at everything and couldn’t find where it went awry.

Temp directories are server-wide and are “managed” by the server, so it really doesn’t have anything to do with your hosting account, unless you’re using a VPS or dedicated.

Third time with hosting company is the charm. /tmp folder was full, despite two people telling me it wasn’t.

    FIXED!
