https://wordpress.org/plugins/registered-users-only/ is very simple and straight-forward. It protects the entire site behind WordPress’s login form, meaning they have to be registered users on the site to access anything.
If you want something a bit more complicated with more control, https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-membership/ does pretty much everything else.

Thank you.
I installed the first plugin but when i try to register it says that I would get an email. But I do not get anything.
It’s only the admin who gets an email.
So actually the users try to register with username and e-mail but are not asked to select password and do not get any email.
Would you please check the spam folder of the receiving email address?

Ah.
Thank you.
I would have to make a little guide for the parents so they remember to check the spam folder.
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Hopefully enough of them will mark it as Not Spam that they will stop being sent there. 🙂
