I’d check the publish date on that article. There’s no way the plugin would use anything besides the specified publish date.

On the subject of article dates, if we correct or update the date on a published post, that new date is not updated on Apple News. We’ve got an article we back-published to 2015 to see how it looks, and then updated it to 2016. Apple News published it in 2015 and will not update no matter what I’ve tried.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

The app caches the feed for days/weeks so if you change datePublished, that change will likely only be seen by people who hadn’t yet loaded the article in your feed in its previous position.

You also can never set datePublished to a date in the future, only in the past.

If you have any further questions on this, I’d take it up directly with Apple News since this is more of an API issue and nothing to do specifically with the plugin.

    Thanks.

Are you certain? I deleted my device’s cache by disabling Apple News in my iCloud preferences and then enabling it again. That’s known to remove the cache when errors occur. The post is still published in 2015. Furthermore, when checking the published posts on iCloud.com, the post is shown published in 2015.

    Does this help at all?

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t know the answer to that. This isn’t a plugin issue, it’s an Apple News API issue.

I’d suggest opening an issue here so someone from Apple can respond: https://forums.developer.apple.com/community/distribution/apple-news/

    Thanks.
