Customize Post Position (Sticky Post-like)

Hey all,

Wondering if anyone has come across a solution to the problem I’m having. I’m attempting to “sticky” a post in a specific position within the loop. I’m essentially looking to have a category (or post type) called “featured” that will always be in the 4th position on the front page. I don’t necessarily need a custom post order plugin unless that’s the best route, since that requires a bit of manual intervention when posting – but was hoping for a solution that allowed me to select a single post and always display it in the “nth” position of the loop.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
