    Hey Thomas!

    Love the plugin.

Just one query. I apologise if it’s been asked before.

I have two groups of ads (a leaderboard group and a skyscraper group). Each group has 2 ads in. However, I want to show a specific ad in the leaderboard group (let’s say an Adidas ad), with a specific ad in the Skyscraper group (also an adidas ad) at the same time. And then the two groups rotate, they shows the other two corresponding ads (let’s say Puma for example). Almost like a homepage takeover.

Is this feature available in Advanced Ads? Is there perhaps a condition to attach to the specific ads to make them display together?

    Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks Thomas,

    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy,

thanks for reaching out. I have been asked this, but not publically, I think.

What you are describing is also called a “roadblock” ad setup. We have this on our internal feature list for Pro.

I also have clients who implemented it themselves using this rather simple trick using a cookie.

    1. use the set_cookie() function from https://wpadvancedads.com/codex/javascript-functions/ below each of your Leaderboard ads and use a unique value for that ad.
    2. in Pro, you have a “cookie” visitor conditon which you can set for each ad to the value you set in step 1.

Thanks so much for the quick response and assistance Thomas.

I will give the set_cookie function a go and see if I make some progress.

    Hi Jeremy,

have you been able to make any progress here?

    Hey Thomas!

Thanks for following up! Much appreciated!

I didn’t actually. I’m not extremely savvy with javascript functions. So not sure where I would even implement the cookie code you mentioned above.

Is there a more descriptive way to explain the above process of implementing a roadbock?

    Apologies for my ignorance.

    Thanks Thomas!

    Hi Jeremy,

there is currently no tutorial, but I have an internal feature request. If it is not urgent, I hope we can add this within a few weeks.

    Thanks for the reply Thomas.

That’s OK – it’s not monumentally urgent – we can hold off a few weeks. Keep us in the loop! 🙂

Thanks Thomas, I’m blown away by your support.

    Hey Thomas.

Just thought I’d follow up to see if the Roadblock mechanic discussed above has been implemented into Advanced Ads?

    Thanks Thomas.

    Hi Jeremy,

sorry, but it has not been implemented yet.
We could still start a feature request for others to vote and push it higher on our todo list though.

    Thanks

    No problem Thomas.

But you did mention the roadblock feature was available in the Pro version, is that correct?

I have two sites using Advanced Ads – would I need to purchase the Pro version once or twice?

    Thanks Thomas.

    Hi Jeremy,

this feature is not yet included, but on the wish list for Pro.

We have licenses for 1, 3 or 10 pages, see https://wpadvancedads.com/add-ons/advanced-ads-pro.
