Hi,
That’s as .htaccess password.
http://support.hostgator.com/articles/specialized-help/technical/wordpress/wordpress-login-brute-force-attack
Someone or a plugin must have created it.
If you have no idea. You can ask your web hosting company for help to remove it.
Thank you.
Hi, I checked through file manager option in cpanel, but there is not .htaccess file
Also, when i click file manager I am directly going to public_html filder and not asking for any option to show hidden files
cPanel hide these files, please check if hidden files are visible within file manager.
checked, no .htaccess file or option to show hidden file.
Hi,
Please ask your web hosting company for help to remove it.
This is an open forum and it’s against WordPress forum rules to ask for any login access.

Therefore, it’s not possible for ask to help you find it.
Thank you.
Yes I can understand, I just wanted to know whether it is WP issue or other, seems like other since it is hosting related.
Only thing is it is not visible in my cpanel file manager.
Seems to be a problem with your host. Have you contacted your host?

Hi Suyash87,
I think most text editors will show hidden files. For instance, I use Sublime Text 3 and it shows hidden files. You can also show all hidden files on your system, but not recommended.
I would just try to download a text editor like Sublime Text to see the hidden files.
Hi AjitKhodke
Yes, I asked client to contact support.
Hi newtonentropy
there are no hidden files on server
Ohh.. oops. Sorry, forgot we were talking about the server. Sleepy.
It’s an extra security measure of your hosting.
I guess you have activated Password Protect in Cpanel.
If you dont have the option in your File manager saying “Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)”
Look down at the bottom of Cpanel, if you are using x3 theme in Cpanel you will then have the option to “Reset all Interface Settings”. Just as this one on the screenshot
http://take.ms/mhm6B
Once it is reset, you click back file manager, the you will have the option to tick the box for “Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)”
From there you will see the .htaccess and .htpasswd in the public_html.
However, you just need to remove .htpasswd
That should fix the problem.
Hello Borge
I tried to find that option but could not see it
