Plugins won't update | WordPress.org

When I try to update a plugin within my site’s admin, the update fails. The site gets stuck in maintenance mode and I have to delete the maintenance file manually. When I disable all plugins, the update gives a 504 error – bad gateway.

I was able to update WordPress to its newest version, but the plugins still won’t update.

Any help is appreciated.

If your server does allow auto updating, then try installing plugins manually?: https://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation

Hi, The issue might be because your ISP or web host has a proxy that requires the page to finish loading within a specific amount of time. Or any of your plugin is causing this. You can try to increase the PHP Maximum Execution Time also. If issue persists, contact your web host. It is possible that 504 error is due to an issue on their end that they will need to resolve.
