Media Library Not Loading after upgrade to 4.5.2

    I’ve seen a number of related posts but the issues were all with prior versions of WP so I’m reposting hoping to get a newer fix to this problem.

    I did a manual upgrade to wp 4.5.2 on my client’s site because the dreaded white screen happened last time I did an auto update.

    Wondering if something didn’t load properly because the Media Library doesn’t work. Nothing load on the Library page OR when I click on Add Media from a page or post.

    The images are still showing on the site and still exist in the content so we haven’t lost them thank goodness.

    appreciate any help.

    Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Thank but none of those things worked.

    Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

    Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

    Okay – but that’s how I did the initial upgrade. Won’t my client’s site break when I delete those files before uploading them again?

    Yes it will, so be as quick as you can about it, or do it during a low-traffic time.
