With the new gallery function introduced in WordPress 2.5, I was wondering is there any way to select the images which are placed in the gallery? For instance a post has 5 uploads, but I only want 3 of them in a gallery. Does anyone know of a plugin/modification which will allow me to do this?

The short answer here is no. Remove the images from the site and reupload them, attached to some other post.

The longer answer is that the gallery feature is new and so not a lot of development has been done to it yet. This may or may not be added in the future.

Well thank you for the quick reply, but I am a little dissapointed. You would think that a primary function of a gallery would be to have the option to select which files you want to use in the gallery.

For instance in my gallery, I have an uploaded file as the post’s ‘thumbnail’ then I have the main photos which I want to place in a gallery. And I cannot do that without having the post’s thumbnail included.

I agree. It seems as though the developers purposefully overlooked this very obvious and simple feature to prematurely release 2.5

I would much rather have waited for 2.5 to be released rather than have it done half way.
