Accessing the WordPress installation screen
-
I have an iMac computer running OS X 10.10.5. I have carefully followed the instructions in “Installing WordPress Locally on Your Mac With MAMP” and other supplemental documents and also WordPress forums.
MAMP has been installed and WordPress downloaded and unzipped–no problems. But when I try to use any of my browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) to go to http://localhost:8888/wordpresslocal (the port 8888 and the empty database name wordpresslocal having been set during the MAMP installation), I get sent to a listing of documents and tutorials, not to a WordPress installation screen, as is supposed to happen. So I can do nothing about completing the installation. How do I solve this problem? I would greatly appreciate any good advice I can get.
I have a web host, namely eHost.com, and my domain name is rhtpoetry.com. I’m trying to set up a local installation of WordPress for development and testing purposes.
