• Hi, I’m using sydney theme, and just installed Paid Membership Pro in order to allow members to sign up and for me to restrict access to certain posts.
Come to find out that anytime I designate a post as “requiring a membership” then the post completely disappears off the blog page even though I have set the blog option to “display excerpts” to non-members.????

Is this theme compatible with Paid Membership Pro or not??? or do I need to look for alternatives

  • Hello there,

Does the issue also to happen even with the default WordPress theme? Could you confirm?

Not sure what you mean by default WordPress Theme, all my posts showed up in “my recent posts” section until I loaded PMP this morning.
Are you asking me to search and install WordPress default theme instead of Sydney and see what happens?

A default WordPress theme is something like Twenty Sixteen or Twenty Fifteen, which should have come pre-installed with WordPress. You can temporarily activate one of the default themes to see if you get the same behavior.

By the way, take a look at this post on the Paid Membership Pro support forum, it might give you some help.

Thanks, but I read that already when I first encountered the problem. I already had both “read more” option and “manual excerpts” on many of my posts to test for it and can’t seem to work. I even installed a “Post Grid” plugin to test for it and it seems to work fine using the plugin but nogo on the theme. I’ll dig for a default theme and give it a whirl.

Tried 2014-2016 none worked, they displayed the category “Members Only” in the archive section, but the blog page didn’t display the posts.
Once again the only place they were displayed accurately were inside the plugins: “Post Grid” and “Revolution Slider”.
Not sure if that helps either you nor I.

If it didn’t work in the default themes, then that indicates (at least to me) that it’s probably a problem with the plugin and not the theme. You should try posting a question in the Paid Memberships Pro support forum and indicate that excerpts don’t show up on the Twenty Fourteen, Fifteen, and Sixteen themes.
