I’m new to using the media uploader and editor for images – I usually prepare the image in Photoshop and then ftp to a chosen graphics folder and hardcode it into a post.

After resizing an image, although the original is still on the server I can’t access it through the media library – is this how it should be?

I’m not sure i understand the issue but if you’re uploading images to a specialized folder, WordPress Media Library will not recognize this, even if it’s in the normal upload directory.

My suggestion is resize it in Photoshop, upload it to WordPress via the Media Library, and use the built-in Edit Image tool to make any changes – that will keep an original image but also give you a modified one. Both of which you should be able to see in the Media Library.

    Thanks.
    That clarifies.
