    Hi
I wanted my site improved so used someone from fiver and paid for a project to make a woocommerce site look fresh and clean. Unfortunately they loaded a theme flatastic and visual composer. I could not get on with them both and it never worked very well.
After much trial and error I finally deleted visual composer and created my own front page .
Despite all my efforts it still loaded the vc created first screen with all it’s error messages. All other pages linked from this page worked as I wanted.
I then deleted totally the theme flatastic and not it loads a strange screen still with the content layout from the Visual composer created pages.
I believe there must be some code somewhere directing you to this created page but I cannot find it at all.
I think the initial loading script must have been modified but I do not know where to look.
Can anyone offer an idea as to why the call to the front page goes somewhere else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    The website is http://www.thegoodgift.co.uk
And yes I now know you should only use qualified coders.

  • it loads a strange screen still with the content layout from the Visual composer created pages…

If Visual Composer is not active, it can’t parse the VC code. So you need to edit your page and post content and remove any VC code. Once you change away from the flatastic theme, you should have a standard editor and be able to edit the content.

If you stay with Flatastic, that’s a paid/premium theme not supported in these forums. You need to get help from ThemeForest.

In the dashboard, appearance, activate the twenty sixteen theme.

    Hi Mark
I have removed all VC content plus renamed the page to no avail. it still loads the strange screen
    Hi Kmessinger
I have changed the theme and looking at it internally it looks as it should. But I exit the admin side it still shows the odd screen.

This is why I think there must be a bit of code over-riding as if VC still existed but I do not know where to look

Did you activate the other theme? As Mark said above you need to get away from the flatastic theme. Choose the twenty sixteen theme and activate it.

    Hi there
I have deleted the flatastic theme and activated the twenty sixteen theme as suggested.
When I look at appearances, customise I see the new theme and have added a logo.
When I exit admin and close my browser to clear the cache then open it again to look at the site I see the unstructured page with old VC / flatastic influences. Within that basic screen there are links to other pages and they are in twenty sixteen theme layout.
This is why I think there must be an over ride but I cannot find it.
sorry if this is a pain but it has me baffled.

    Something I am puzzled by
in /thegoodgift.co.uk/wp-content there is an index.php which says
    <?php
    // Silence is golden.

what is this and why is it inside this folder.
    should it be deleted

Part of WP. Do not delete.

In the dashboard static page is that setting ok?

    Delete the folder themes/flatastic

    Hi
the folder in themes relating to flatastic has been deleted. and I checked through ftp.
In appearances it is looking at twenty sixteen and indeed when you click on a link it shows this theme. It is just when you call the website you get the bad page.
within admin when I click on “go to site” it is correct twenty sixteen.
I even deleted wp-super-cache in case this was causing a problem as it showed 1.html and 2.html with the bad page.
I am going to sleep now and maybe the fairies will have fixed it for me.
thanks for all your ideas so far.

    When you wake up, try
-deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    Hi
Well I have to say thank you and “you are the man”.
I deactivated all plugins and checked and it has the correct page. I activated them one by one but this did not reproduce the problem.
However I looked at the redirects log for 404 errors and this showed problems and some calls to flatastic.
This is obviously an avenue to pursue to see if they persist once I clear the logs and check again.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Colin
