Reverse engineer multisite? Which files and locations?

    Hi, I can find plenty of tutorials on setting up a new mutisite network, but I want to merge two completely separate sites, each presently live with their own distinct wp installs, into a single multisite.

    I have two sites, one located in the root directory which is ostensibly set up for multisite networking, and a second site with a whole separate wp install all within a subfolder.

    I would like to delete the unnecessary clone wp install and relocate that second site such that both sites run off a single wp install as subdirectories of a multisite.

    Is it even possible to do it this way or would I have to rebuild my 2nd site from scratch using a fresh install of the same theme and them painstakingly copying in all the existing customs and content?

    If so, which files would I still need and how should I set up the folder directory?

    Use Tools -> Export on each to save their post and page content. Also backup the wp-content/uploads folder for each (that’s where your images live).

    On the new site restore all the uploads folders and then use Tools -> Import for each exported site to add the posts/pages in.

    However, settings, plugins, etc, will all need to be set up manually.
