• Hi all,

I just did an SEO check and I have no H1 heading on my homepage.

I have a logo on my website (see http://www.seepatagonia.com) so my question is how exactly do I add a H1 heading, and keep the logo?

I read mixed views online that I can add alt text to the logo and this serves as a H1?!

    Thanks,
    Stacey

    – Are you using a plugin for SEO? Yes? Which plugin? Where did you download it from?
    – Is this a feature of your active theme? Yes? What’s the name of this theme? Where did you download it from?

    Hello!

Alt texts don’t serve as H1s. They’re completely different things.

You could simply add an H1 under the menu and a little paragraph under it, like a small summary of what is your site about or what you offer.

Or maybe you could add a smaller logo in the top left and the menu next to it, on the right, and then the H1 under, and it would look better.

H1 is very important for SEO because it’s the main topic of your page. Also, if you don’t add an H1, you break the heading structure, because it starts with H2, and it’s not that good.

    Hi Blade,

Thanks for clearing the H1/alt-text thing up – I think it was wishful (desperately hopeful) thinking.

The struggle now is how to add a H1 without it looking weird, but I like your suggestion of the logo on the left and menu on the right etc. I think I could make it work 🙂

    Thanks again!
