• My website avalanchefitness.com is redirecting to sites with malware. I have checked the .htaccess file, deleted the entire public_html folder and started with a fresh version of WP, and have been googling possible solutions but can’t find the issue. I have backed up all my site files and database.

It’s got to be in the WordPress files because I created a new database and the site worked fine but then I uploaded (via Tools) the backup of WP content and it’s redirecting again.

I don’t call myself a developer, but I’m comfortable with technical instructions. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

No – that’s not the default behavior of WP core!

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Sixteen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

So often you will find that your theme has been hacked, so when you reenable your theme, try to get a new one from the source instead of using the one you have from the backup

Tara, to clarify I don’t mean the WP core files. I mean my WP backup files (mentioned above, via Tools). Yes, I have already tried all that you mentioned.

7thcircle, I did not use the same theme. I am using a default WP theme.

    Thanks!

Sucuri is showing everything clean currently. Have you tried from another browser or computer? Are others having the issue?
