I suggest you to apply following CSS code using any of plugins in this link: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=custom+css.
If you choose Simple Custom CSS Plugin(https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css), after the installation and activation, go to Appearance > Custom CSS and add following code into the textarea.
.custom-background #container>.wrap {
margin-top: 50px;
}

Sorry but that code has nothing to do with header image, that only shows background image on top of the page.

I’ve got the exact same issue.
When I rotate my phone to landscape, the header image is there, but in portrait mode it’s gone.
Is there a solution?
Did you solve the issue, @mrblues?

My solution was to change theme as I didn´t have time to wait for the right answer.

I use Virtue theme with Virtue / Pinnacle ToolKit plugin, works pretty well I think.
