I checked your web and I see a working widget! I didn’t quite understand your problem. Is it only when using the shortcode because I have tested the latest version and it works with public usernames.
Hi, sorry if I wasn’t clear enough! Yes, the widget is displayed, as well as the caption and the time – but the username (which should be displayed left to the time) doesn’t display, even though I’ve checked that it should be displayed (see dropbox screenshot above)
Yeah, I got it. The reason for that is because you are showing images using a hashtag, and it shows only the hashtag you are searching for and not the owner username, because the username cannot be found on the code I get back from instagram when searching for hashtag. Check the code bellow for one image.

How is it possible that the plugin from Smashballoon can show the username?

The free version doesn’t allow you to show hashtag at all!
Their plugin uses the API which requires you to login with your Instagram.
This plugin doesn’t do any kind of authentication and it doesn’t have any paid upgrades only user donations.
