I get the same error, but the upload works.
When I get the error nothing happens. There’s not picture there to insert.
I upgraded my “tutorial” blog to 2.5.
I had previously uploaded images using Word Press.
Since the 2.5 upgrade, I now get HTTP error when I try to upload.
The permissions are set properly and worked in 2.3.3.
Matt’s blog says his is working… so I’m asking… where does Matt host his blog?
What do I need to tell my hosting company to get this fixed?
I upgraded a few weeks ago and uploaded one photo no problem. I tried again today and get an error message. (Specified file failed upload test.)
This error message only appears on IE not in Firefox. When I try to add the picture to the post, the window just hangs and nothing happens. I can’t seem to be able to insert the images in.
I’m hosting my site on dreamhost and have 17 blogs running. Hopefully this is happening only on one of them…….
If anything needs to be added to the htaccess file, please let me know.

where is the htaccess file? I can’t get anything to upload and I’ve seen that this is a possible solution.

I read the post at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/164999?replies=1 and didn’t see anything in there that solved my problem. The weird thing is that everything was working fine and then this weird behaviour just started. I upgraded my flash version and still nothing…. I guess my only option is to disable the flash upload? That’s too bad…
Ok, maybe it’s because it’s Friday, or I’m a dumbass, but I went to manage media gallery, deleted the images that I had uploaded and made the flash window hang and now it works!
Who knows what happened? At least it’s working and I feel, like well, plain silly!
I’ve been having the same problem, right from the start. I got one to upload, and the rest give me an error message.
i get this msg when i tried to post the image. Image is already uploaded and is in the gallery (and this is after i created the htacces file and ftp into wp-admin folder. i did this bcos i get the http error whenever i upload). and then this problem crops up.. help.. is there no end to the probs that wp is giving us newbies???
