I have switched from Shared host to VPS thinking that it was going to be somehow easier, it hasn’t, I have been plagued with errors of all kinds, problems importing data, viewing pages, problems connecting, I have a multisite installation, Bluehost said that they don’t support multisite, So just to prove the point I went ahead an installed a regular wordpress package and it was the same problem, this was with and without plugins, regular themes and everything could someone please help me with this? or should I simply look for another host, it was working fine under shared, now it’s not, this honestly it’s frustrating!

    Hi Victor.

I have switched from Shared host to VPS thinking that it was going to be somehow easier

VPS is an entirely different animal than shared hosting. Unless you’re technically inclined and have the knowledge, or desire to learn, to configure and run your own server, a VPS will certainly be more of a challenge. If you need to run multi-site on a VPS, and your current host doesn’t support it, you should probably look for another host that can provide the support you need. Here’s a search that has several articles related to VPS hosting. Hope that helps.

thank you for your prompt answer, I desire to learn since shared host won’t do it now, I can’t simply trust bluehost on that anymore. and you shouldn’t recommend it either.

    What is the actual issue?
Do you have any errors from your error logs?

If you have the ability to create wildcard domains a multisite should be no problem, and most hosts that I am aware of do not actually support them like they do not support coding. The techs get trained on most common problems and how to help solve them. And the better the tech the more likely harder issues will be able to be fixed

IMO, I wouldn’t want someone messing with a multisite if they are unsure how to “support” it or understand what is actually going on.

If you get some errors or example urls up that would be pretty helpful for us to see what the actual issue is.

Go to http://santodomingocolonial.do and click any link anywhere, and you’ll see what I mean, all my sites including the ones thata are not wordpress are doing that, they can’t go beyond the main page

Looks like the multisite is not finding that (just guessing).
Have you made sure all the .htaccess and the wp-config.php directives for the multisite are there and correct.

You said you were on shared, which means the path could be different if you set an absolute path, might need to check that too.
instead of like /home4/user/public_html make sure that it matches the path your user currently is at.

I used to work, the performance of the VPS was degrading rapidly, now it doesn’t even work on regular php sites, i tried installing a new simple wordpress installation and it was the same result
