Full screen width page gallery

I am attempting to create a full screen width gallery on a page to look like this: http://www.ygallerynewyork.com/

I am using twenty sixteen theme.

I have experience with child themes and with the CSS style editor, and I have some self-taught coding background.

Is there a way to strip out margins and padding so that when I use the wordpress media gallery, I can achieve that image placement?
