    I have to move a site for a client from a droplet to godaddy. Im still very new to all this. The old server had a couple of folders which were named after a theme. I copied and transfered to the new host via ftp. However the new host already has a wordpress installation structure which I cannot delete due to permissions. The Site folders from the previous host also had no wp-config file for me to change database location. I am redirecting to the new host via my hosts file but it is not working yet. What did I miss? I placed the folders I copied in the root forlder along side the html folder that was already there. I tried placing them in the themes but that didnt work either. Please any help appreciated as this has been taking me ages….

    The WordPress /wp-content/themes/ folder is only for adding WordPress themes and making them available at the WordPress Dashboard;
    Placing folders alongside ‘public_html’ (if that is what you have done) will not make then accessible since the domain likely lands at ‘public_html’;
    You will likely have to talk with the Support Techs at the new host about how to re-direct to their servers where you will then have to begin the task of actually importing into WordPress rather than merely uploading folders via FTP.
