    Hello,

I am having this same issue with a 404 on sitemap-custom.xml. The custom sitemap was not included in the sitemap index before and I did not intentionally want to add it. How did you manage to solve this?

    Thank you in advance.

Mine was not created intentionally either – it created right after I upgraded the latest version of plugin (I assume) I think the developer will answer better that what could be the issue. After showing 404 for sometime it started showing me an empty xml path.

OK I re-saved permalinks structure as well as cleared wordpress cache and sitemap-custom.xml is no longer throwing a 404 but am getting Missing XML tag error on Line 4 same as you when I test the custom sitemap in search console.

Hi all, it looks like you’ve found a bug. The sitemap-custom.xml should not appear when the field “Include custom URLs” is empty but it looks like in some cases it does…

I’ve been able to reproduce and I’ll work on a fix.

For now, to get around the GWT error, go to Settings > Reading, find the field “Include custom URLs” and fill out your full home page URL there.

Thanks man, really appreciate your help. Just did what you said, and the homepage is now appearing up in the custom sitemap url – guess will wait for the original fix.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for the quick support. 🙂

OK, just released 4.6.3 which should fix the bug. After upgrade, you should be able to clear the “Include custom URLs” field again and no sitemap-custom.xml should appear any longer.

Thanks all for the bug report!
