Search widget: replace “?s=” by search

Using search widget: when entering a word and click “search” it generates an url with “?s=” + searchword, can I replace “?s=” with for example “search” (permalink)? Is this possible?

I found a solution: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search-permalink/#post-2433

But this does only work for Firefox and not IE 🙁

Can someone help me?
