Hi,
What kind of a 404 error are you seeing (there are two types, one “generic” one, and one that looks like it is styled like your website it self).
If it’s styled much like your site, try going to Settings > Permalinks and hitting the save button twice in a row and see if your posts start working again as intended.
If it’s a generic error page, it could mean that mod_rewrite (a server module used to make pretty links work) is disabled, or that a .htaccess file is missing.
The .htaccess file can in most cases be generated by WordPress by following the steps described above for styled 404 pages, but if it’s a module being disabled you will either have to enable this module your self, or ask your host about enabling it.
thanks was permalinks related it fixed it thank you
I know many are helped by your knowledge, but I want to be the guy who stopped his day and thanked you. If we were in a bar, I’d buy you a shot of good whiskey, slap your back and thank you in person!
