Mesocolumn translation

Hello,
i have tried to translate the MesoColumn theme by Po-edit.
I have dowloaded the Mesocolumn-en_EN.po on my desktop and started a new translation in the Italian language.
Then I translated few sentences in Italian to see if it worked and saved the file on my desktop and put my files:
mesocolumn-it_IT.po and mesocolumn-it_IT.mo in the MesoColumn theme language folder.

I still see the sentences i have translated into Italian in english.

What was wrong?
