WordPress Category change

Does anyone know how my wordpress category base could be changing on it’s own. I don’t have any category base set in the permalink. So i guess one i’m wondering where it picks that information up from.. ?

And two how could that change all by itself. At one point it was
http://www.ridgewoodpuppies.com/Ridgewood-puppies-puppies-for-sale/bichon-frise-puppies-for-sale/
Then it changed too..
http://www.ridgewoodpuppies.com/puppies-for-sale/bichon-frise-puppies-for-sale/
now it’s…
http://www.ridgewoodpuppies.com/dog-breeders-in-pa/bichon-frise-puppies-for-sale/

I can’t tell if some is messing with this, or how does wordpress pull it’s cat base when the category permalink isn’t set to begin with…
