Flushing rewrites on update?

    I have written a plugin that uses a custom permalink structure and created created rewrites for this.

    Each time Yoast SEO is updated, the rules get deleted resulting in 404 pages for the pages driven by the plugin.

    Is there a way to ensure my custom rewrite rules persist and don’t get flushed when the Yoast plugin is updated?
