BIG problems with my website

    Please help me! I am using WP for the first time, and I’m having so many problems, I’m gonna go crazy!
    1. I had some questions for the theme developer regarding design etc. and the support guy sent me a child theme which I installed, and then everything went wrong! All of my posts are 404 sites, showing errors. When I change my permalinks to some other structure, the posts are fine, but my single page – the contact page, is not working! I don’t know how to fix it! My .htaccess file already has the code which makes the links writeable, or whatever it does. Please help me!
    2. I am sick and tired of the installed child theme, so I want to delete it. But I don’t know how! In my CPanel, it’s not there! How do I do it?
    3. I just updated my theme and the translated strings are gone and everything’s back to half-english half my language. Do I always need to copy and paste the .po and .mo files, every 5 days when I update my theme?

    Please help me! 🙁

    1. Are you hosting on your own server? If so, apache is incorrectly configured — it’s probably ignoring .htaccess. Read up on AllowOverride in the <Directory> section of your apache/httpd config. For more help with this, come onto the WordPress IRC channel.

    2. Delete the theme from appearance -> themes after changing to another theme.

    Thanks for the answer.

    I’m on shared hosting, and everything was perfect before installing the child theme. I can’t believe the child theme messed up everything, but it seems so.

    I don’t know what to do…

    If the problem is with the child theme, change to another theme! If you switch to twentysixteen, does the problem go away?

    Themes have nothing to do with cpanel, by the way.

    I deleted the child theme and changed to twentysixteen, and the problem persists. What could the solution be? The .htaccess comes into mind, but I already checked it.
